FIVE finalists in Cebu’s first “B-Pop 81118: The Acapella Challenge” will battle it out in August 11th (Saturday) at the J Centre Mall, Mandaue City, Cebu.

This acapella competition is organized by the Primary Structures Educational Foundation, Inc. (PSEFI), operating through the School of Knowledge for Industrial Labor, Leadership and Service (SKILLS) and the Primary Group of Builders (PGB) to raise funds to support the education of the PSEFI Scholars which aims to help reduce unemployment by providing training education to deserving individuals.

 

This activity also aims to promote bisaya music and culture. This is also to discover new bisaya group talents and give them the chance to shine.

 

The finalists are local groups from universities and religious groups .The grand finalists will have to perform an obligatory song that is purely Cebuano of any genre and a song of their choice provided that the song is a mixture of Cebuano and of any other language. The finalists will be judged based on their tonal quality, harmony, overall performance/choreography and costumes.

The finalists will be judged by Cebu’s top personalities in the music industry namely Roberto del Rosario, Niño James Beñares, Jude Gitamondoc, Gani Villarojo and Dennis Sugarol.

 

The organizers are targeting an audience of 2,000 people to join the event and raise funds to support SKILLS scholars.

The Grand Winner will win ₱50,000, a trophy and a record label. 1st runner up will take home ₱30,000, 2nd runner up with ₱20,000 and consolation prizes with ₱5,000.

 

The B-Pop finalists will be joined by selected Bisaya Artists namely Jacky Chang, Caloy Juapo, Mandaue Nights and Maka Girls to serenade everyone with their homegrown Cebuano music.
